With last minute venue cancelations in San Francisco the MOS organizers hit the City of San Diego as a replacement location for its 2005 West Coast gathering. Thanks to the past two years of wall scouting along the San Diego trolley line in Logan Heights the Aerosol Art Association legalized over six city blocks of industrial buildings and fencing ready to accommodate the International gathering. We soon discovered it was not enough wall space to meet the unexpected demand of nearly 150 artists who arrived early that morning eager to spray paint.
In a setting so colorfully surreal you had to be there to witness it history was made. We are just very thankful to have succeeded in hosting a free art show for the public in America finest city. Three months after the gathering all of Commercial St was painted grey by the city and property owners were notified to remove all so called graffiti or be hit with a fine of $5,000 for the eye sore. Ouch, I guess that was just too much color for one street. For those property owners who offered their building space we are forever grateful and want you to know you help provide a temporary outlet for the youth. Kudos!!
